Reconciliation Events 2014

An invitation to participate in a range of Reconciliation Events targeting business people, has been extended to the SEQICC community.

We would be delighted if you were able to come along to these informative events which will provide insights and learnings from other RAP organisations and a great opportunity to network. We would also be grateful if you could forward/circulate this invitation email and attachments to your networks.

RAP Information Session (Brisbane): These sessions are for organisations that are currently building a business case for why their organisation should participate in the RAP program. These friendly information sessions provide information about the Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) program; the benefits of the program to organisations and communities and support organisations to join the program.

RAP Learning Circle (Brisbane): Learning Circles provide a forum for RAP organisations to come together to hear thought-provoking presentations that will challenge current thinking and raise innovative ideas. This is a chance to come consider best practice thinking and approaches around specific topics and network with other RAP organisations. This forum is a great way to engage various areas of your business—from frontline services to HR, Procurement or Communications—to ensure your RAP programs and initiatives support your broader business objectives.

Capability Statement Workshop

A Capability Statement is a hook that invites further consideration by project managers to offer your business opportunities to participate in major projects.

John Gillespie from the Department of State Development, Infrastructure and Planning is running a number of workshops across a range of venues in March 2014. The workshops are designed to assist Indigenous Businesses to develop their Capability Statements and drafting an Elevator Pitch.

Certificate IV in Training and Assessment

The Brisbane North Institute of TAFE (BNIT) is offering a new (and last) fully funded Training and Assessment program.  This program can cost up to $5000 to do elsewhere, and is an extremely valuable qualification for small business leaders to hold.

We encourage Indigenous small business owners to consider investing their time to become a qualified trainer and assessor.

The program commences in February 2014 and runs for one day per week for twelve weeks.

2014 Queensland Reconciliation Awards


Nominations are now open for the 2014 Queensland Reconciliation Awards

These awards recognise and reward businesses, community organisations, educational institutions, and projects that are proactively contributing to reconciliation in our state. There is $25,000 in prize money available across five categories.

Award Ambassador Johnathan Thurston, is very proud to represent the awards and their work in recognising the commitment, initiative and innovation that enriches our Indigenous community.
